Day 2 – Build your tribe

Welcome to day 2 of the Do Six Figures blogging bootcamp. Today I'm going to go over how to build your tribe for free with ConvertKit - and why your tribe is crucial to your success.

Trying to make money from a random person who visits your website is the equivalent of trying to make a sale via telemarketing. It’s just not happening!

People who come to your blog don’t want to give you money. They want to find the answer to their question, and then leave.

You need a system in place that allows you to stay in touch with your visitors.

In other words, you need an email list.

An email list is the perfect place to move the conversation from your blog to a more personal setting. 

Email allows you to build a relationship with your audience.

And this relationship is key because you can't make money online until you build trust with your audience first.

Your email list will allow you to: 

- convert readers into subscribers
- convert subscribers into customers
- convert customers into repeat customers

This "trust funnel" is where the magic happens and is key to building a six-figure business.

Since all 3 critical steps happen with an email list, I think we should set one up right now.

When you sign up to the free plan you get to:

- Create unlimited forms for free
- Create unlimited landing pages
- Send emails up to 1,000 subscribers

Once you're all signed up, the first step is to create a form.

Click on Landing Pages & Forms > Create new > Form > Inline

Choose a template and save the form when you're ready.

The easiest way to add your optin form to your blog posts is with the ConvertKit WordPress plugin.

In WordPress go to Plugins > Add New, search for ConvertKit, then install and activate the plugin.

To finish setting up the plugin, you need an API key which you can find in your ConvertKit settings.

After that's done, you can go to Settings > ConvertKit in WordPress to set the default form that will be added at the bottom of every blog post.

To get more email subscribers you need to offer something more than a boring newsletter.

Think: ebook, checklist, cheatsheet, template, printable, or a 4-day bootcamp perhaps.

You can make many of these for free using Canva. It is very newbie-friendly and if you're design-challenged, there are templates to start with.

You don't have to write an epic ebook to get a lot of subscribers. Even something as simple as a checklist of must-haves that relate to your niche works.

When you're done, save the final product as a pdf.

To deliver this incentive to subscribers go back to the form you created in ConvertKit and click on the Mail icon. Here you can upload your PDF and edit the contents of the email.
